Culture News: Lord Of The Rings - Books Vs. Movies
Name: Martian
Country:

Comments: I find the books much, much better than the movies. The first kind of scene, or chapter one(a long-expected party) was excellent more than half of the actual dialogue was in there, but from there, they lost it all. One of my greatest disappointments, was leaving Tom Bombadil out. He is a very interesting character, and one of my favorites. Lots of people say the Lord of the Rings (movie) was a three-hour-hike, I agree, but it would not have been so, if they would have included more things (such as Tom Bombadil). There was too much action in the movies, I suppose thats why many people like them, but I don't think Tolkien had such a video game, fighting, type of thing in mind. There is some fighting in the book, of course, but it isnt described as depicted in the movie. The characters, that were in there, were depicted great in my mind. Gandalf was great, the way he can change from cheerful and friendly, to giant and fearsome, I liked that. I think that anyone who liked the movies, wouldnt even enjoy the books, since there so different from each other. Books are always better than movies, and The Lord of the Rings, is a classic example.
