Aruba Info Local Items & Services News

I am starting this Thread based on a news report about a man who violated a position of trust in order to coerce and abuse children. The report is here: Source 2t however I want to focus on what is defined as positions of trust under Utah Law.

Therefore, have a look through the list below and consider each person and what impact they my of had in your life. After you read through the list look at my questions below.

international QUOTE
Utah's definition of a person with a position of trust -- as found in Utah criminal code 76-5-404.1

Adoptive parent
Athletic manager who is an adult
Cohabitant of a parent if the cohabitant is an adult
Doctor or physician
Foster parent
Legal guardian
Natural parent
Recreational leader who is an adult
Religious leader
Sibling or a stepsibling who is an adult
Scout leader who is an adult
Teacher or any other individual employed by or volunteering at a public or private elementary school or secondary school, and who is 18 years of age or older
Instructor, professor, or teaching assistant at a public or private institution of higher education
Youth leader who is an adult
Individual in a position of authority, other than those individuals listed in Subsections (1)©(I) through (Xxiii), which enables the individual to exercise undue influence over the child

With this in mind do you think any other positions of trust should be added? Also, have you ever considered your own children among the list above? Remember, in a child's eyes the above list of persons would be considered people they look up to and / or see as good and upright.
