Basic Info

The Bubble Eye Goldfish is a stunningly beautiful fish. At maturity, the Bubble Eye Goldfish will reach a size of four to six inches. They have short, thick bodies with a hump around the shoulder area. They have long fins, and an orange to yellow body color, with occasional white spots. The most interesting feature of the Bubble Eye Goldfish, and what makes it extraordinarily beautiful, are the large bubbles under their eyes. These bubbles are folds of skin, which contain a yellowish fluid in them. The eyes of a Bubble Eye Goldfish are pointed upwards.

Health

Bubble Eye Goldfish should be kept in water with a temperature ranging from 68 to 75 degrees fahrenheit. A slightly alkaline pH should be used, with a level around 7.6. Bubble Eye Goldfish are omnivores, and will eat live plants for food, and also vegetables like zucchini, peas, spinach, and lettuce. Frozen glass worms, blood worms, brine shrimp and daphnia will also be accepted by the Bubble Eye Goldfish. They will also eat pellet and tablet foods. When removing a Bubble Eye Goldfish from a tank, use a bowl instead of a net, because the net may damage the eyes. Breeding When spawning, the male Bubble Eye Goldfish will develop small white dots call tubercles. These will grow on the head, pectoral fins and gill covers, and should not be confused with Ich (a fish disease). Several thousand eggs will be produced during a spawn. The parents must be removed, as they will greedily eat their eggs.

The Bubble Eye Goldfish, like other goldfish, is quite hardy. It is also bright, large, and is great at catching attention. Due to its relative hardiness and ease of care, it is an excellent for beginning aquarists, but all fish lovers desire it. The Bubble Eye Goldfish is a peaceful fish. It mixes very well with other goldfish. If kept in groups of goldfish, the Bubble Eye Goldfish will school with them. They will make community doesn't have very aggressive fish. They will not mix well with Cichlids, but go great community members, as long as the well with Tetras, and other non-aggressive fish. Bubble Eye Goldfish can be kept in almost any kind of aquarium. However, they like to dig and uproot décor, so make sure you secure any decorations. However, they should have plenty of swimming space. Also, due to how fragile their eyes are, an aquarium with a Bubble Eye Goldfish should not have any sharp or rough edges. Special attention should be paid to make sure other fish are not pecking at the eyebubbles.
